Dressing Glamour Gals in Gorgeous Gear Starting out with a fresh new take on ‘pop couture,’ a teenage Ruth Tarvydas launched her ‘House of Tarvydas’ label out of Perth, Western Australia in 1979. Ruth set out to create an edgy, sexy and ultra glamorous label, and that’s exactly what she achieved. Her creations embraced colour, slick design and quality fabrics, the elements that captured her fans and kept them till this day.
Throughout the 80’s, Ruth’s label wowed international buyers, who were quick to stock her wares in Selfridges London. The launch of Ruth’s UK showroom opened up many doors for her, and it wasn’t long before the label was stocked throughout Europe and the US.
Ruth entered the Asian market with a bang in the 1990’s with the launch of the ‘Cleo Ruth Tarvydas’ style competition. The label also established its own section in the prestigious ‘Tangs’ in both Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.
In 2004 Ruth captured our attention with “The Red Dress” – the frock Rebecca Twiggly famously donned for the Brownlow Medal. The dress graced television screens and newspapers across the nation, and was later sold at a charity auction for an amazing $23,500.
The simple yet oh-so-sexy dress continues to reign rule at Ruth Tarvydas this season. Choose between luxuriously long backless creations in metallics, or sexy mini-dresses complete with sequins and pockets. The perfect dress for every occasion. Our pick from the collection? The to-die-for Longfire dress – you will be heating up every room you enter when you slip into this flame orange halterneck frock.
